Fond du Lac Daily Reporter, Mon. Sept. 26, 1910, p. 5:5. PIONEER IS DEAD. Mrs. Nicholas Braun, One of the Earliest Settlers of the Town of Eden, Dies. Mrs. Nicholas Braun, One of the Earliest. Mrs. Nicholas Braun, one of the earliest residents of the town of Eden, died at 1 o’clock this morning at the old homestead which is now occupied by her son, Peter Braun. The departed reached the age of 81 years. In the early years when she and her husband settled on the Braun place in Eden, she worked with her husband clearing land, going through the privations of the early working by the side of her husband. She was born in Rhine Prussia, Kreis Trier, Germany and was married in 1850 at West Bend, Washington county, this state to Mr. Braun who previous to that time had settled upon the old homestead in Eden. Mr. Braun has been dead for twenty years. Mrs. Braun leaves four sons, Peter, Henry, John and William, all of the town of Eden, and five daughters, Mrs. A. Bachmann and Mrs. August Stenz, of the town of Fond du Lac, Mrs. J.H Maney, Mrs. C. Kierig and Mrs. M. Herbert, all of this city. In addition to the sons and daughters there are 28 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren surviving.

Fond du Lac Commonwealth, Mon. Sept. 27, 1910, p. 8:3. The funeral of Mrs. Nicholas Braun will be held at 9 o’clock tomorrow from the residence and at 10:00 o’clock from St. Matthew’s church at Campbellsport. Rev. H. July officiating. Interment will be at the adjoining cemetery.

Fond du Lac Commonwealth, Thurs. Sept. 29, 1910, p. 8:3. The funeral of Mrs. Nicholas Braun was held at 9 o’clock Wednesday morning from the residence in the town of Eden, and at 10:00 o’clock from St. Mathew’s church at Campbellsport. Rev. H. July, of Campbellsport and Rev. J.B. McFarland of Eden officiating. The pallbearers were Nicholas Kierig, Ed Braun, Paul Braun and Nicholas Maney. St. Mary’s Altar society, of Eden, and the altar society of Campbellsport attended the funeral in a body. The floral offering was large. The funeral was one of the largest held in the town of Eden for some time.
