Mary Isgrigg was born on 26 September 1827 in Missouri to Henry L Isgrigg and Sarah Lemmon. She married first much older John Hulet Hughes, ca 1841, when she was about fourteen years old, in Missouri. Their children were John, Margaret, Savilla, Sarah, Mary, William, and Nancy Hughes. After John's death in 1855, Polly married much older Hon John Taylor Hyde Sr on 27 July 1858, in Washington County, Missouri. Judge Hyde was the widowed father of nine children. Their children were Susan, Jefferson, Frances, Laura, Emily, and John Hyde. Mary Isgrigg Hyde died, 15 October 1908, aged 81, in Sullivan, Missouri, and was buried at New Rock Cemetery in Crawford County, Missouri.
