Mrs. Lois Metzger, 67, of Clovis, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Northwest Texas Medical Center in Amarillo.

She was born on March 26,1937, in Bancroft, Neb., to Martin and Esther Kirch Koehler.

She married LaVern Metzger on June 16, 1957. She was a 4-H leader and superintendent at the county fair. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was a Lutheran Braille worker. She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and St. John Lutheran Church in Lariat.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister.

Survivors include her husband; six daughters, Darla Gremel (and husband, James) of Tucson, Ariz., Fran Barclay (Robert) of Clovis, Linda Kinzer (Alan) of Amarillo, Rebecca Hesterman (Phillip) of Grand Island, Neb., Jacki McCurley (Daniel) of Las Cruces and Connie Jones (Larry) of Clovis; a son, Robert Metzger of Dallas; two sisters, Mildred Toelle of West Point, Neb., and Carol Draube of Sioux City, Iowa; a brother, Wilmer Koehler of Neligh, Neb.; and 13 grandchildren. The Rev. David Symm will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Jesse and Trent Barclay, Joshua, Jeremiah and John B. Kizer, Richard Gremel, Micah and Bryce Hesterman and Dalton Jones.

Honorary pallberars are granddaughters, Julie Gremel, Andrea Hesterman, Hannah McCurley and Alexi Jones; and sons-in-law, James Gremel, Robert Barclay, Alan Kinzer, Phillip Hesterman, Daniel McCurley and Larry Jones; and Wayne Cook, Gary Kruckeberg and Eugene Guthals.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Lutheran Preschool, Trinity Lutheran School Scholarship Fund in Amarillo or the Lutheran Braille Workers.
