Funeral services for Mildred "Billie" Moore will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who has been entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. In LIEU of flowers: Memorials are being designated to: Hospice of Jasper County; First United Methodist Church; Jasper County Retired Citizens or to the Charity of your choice.
Mildred E. "Billie" Moore, 93, the daughter of Marton Clay and Roma (Rickman) Butler, was born December 10, 1915 in Newton, Iowa. A lifelong resident of the Newton area, she graduated from the Newton Senior High, Class of 1932.
On April 14, 1934, Billie was united in marriage with Riley William Moore in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was employed by the Vernon Company, retiring after 36 years. Billie had devoted her life to her husband, family and friends, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crocheting, gardening and the Christmas Sharing in Quitman, TX. She was also active in R.S.V.P.; Jasper County Senior Citizens and Ikettes.
Billie died on Saturday morning, May 23, 2009 in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Riley on Feb. 7, 1992; her son Larry W. Moore in April 2002; her three sisters; and three brothers.
Those left to honor Billie's memory include her daughter-in-law Beth Moore of Quitman, Texas; her grandson Sean (Christy) Moore; granddaughter Kimberlee Moore; her great-grandchildren: Chance, Laci and Devin; a brother-in-law Duane Moore of Phoenix, AZ and sister-in-law Helen Moore of Ottumwa, IA; many nieces and nephews; and her many great friends.


Calling hours will be Wednesday from One hour prior to services, with the family at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton with Rick Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery, Newton on Wednesday at 12:00 pm.
