Robert Coy Heard, Douglasville service station operator, was killed early Friday morning when the car in which he was riding became stalled on the railroad tracks near Bremen and was struck by a westbound train. Another occupant of the car, Harold "Curly" Wilson, also of Douglasville, left the car before the crash.
Funeral services for Mr. Heard were held Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Pat Johnson and the Rev. G. A. Lively officiating.
Mr. Heard was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge.
surviving are his wife; brother, Wayne Heard, of Douglasville; thre sisters, Mrs. Dalton Beavers, of Carrollton; Mrs. F. T. Jordon, of East Point, and Mrs. J. R. Roberts, of Atlanta.
Burial was in Douglasville Cemetery with the Douglasville Masonic Lodge No. 289 in charge of graveside rites. J. Cowan Whitley Company, undertaker in charge.
