TACOMA NEWS TRIBUNE [WA] obit headline: World War II Vet Passes at 44
"William L. McArthur, 44, of 518 S. 7th St., maintenance man for the Washington apartments, died Wednesday in a local hospital after an illness of several months. McArthur, a native of Appleton, WI [note: this is incorrect] had lived in Tacoma two years and was a World War II Army veteran. He served as a technician, fifth class, in the Headquarters and Service company, 13th Transportation section.
"Surviving are his wife, Margarete; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Ken Watson of Seattle and Reba Joe and Joyce Friday of Tacoma; his father, Judson E. McArthur of Colorado Springs, CO; four brothers, Edgar S. and Jack D. McArthur of Colorado Springs and J. Earl and Olin of Denver; two sisters, Mrs. Wilbur McFarland of Colorado Springs and Miss Anita McArthur of Anchorage, Alaska, and one grandson.
"Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Buckley-King chapel, Chaplain Lester Woosley officiating. Burial will be in the New Tacoma cemetery."
