Maxine J. Durler, 87, died June 9, 2011 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park. She was born on June 5, 1924 at Windthorst the daughter of Harry I. and Cecelia C. (Duesing) Issinghoff.

Mrs. Durler graduated from St. Mary's of the Plains College in Dodge City. She married Joseph Anthony Durler on January 14, 1946 at Windthorst. Maxine taught elementary school in Spearville and at Sacred Heart School in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1997. She owned and operated Flowers by Irene from 1973 – 1988 in Dodge City.

Maxine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Gardner.

Mrs. Durler is survived by two daughters, Marsha Green of Overland Park and Sheryl Durler of Wamego; two grandsons, Sean Green of Overland Park and Jagger Mandrell of Mullen, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Maxine was preceded in death by seven brothers, Floyd, Jerome, Robert, Linus, Stanley, Wendell, and Harry Jr.; and three sisters, Gladys Werner, Patricia Buscho, and Alvina Torline.

Vigil Service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 6:00 PM. Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church – 901 Central – Dodge City on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Private family burial will be held Tuesday . Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 12:00 PM til 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Windthorst Heritage Foundation in care of the funeral home.
