Husband of (wife #1) Elizabeth A. Fincher and they had six children: Allison M. (b-1859); Alonzo A. (b-1860); Thomas H.P. (b-1863); infant M.L. (b-1866); Edgar F. (b-1870); and Lizzie E. (b-1873)and of (wife #2) Sarah "Sally" Fincher and they had one daughter, Hassie M. (b-1890). He was a saw mill operator in Gwinnett County, GA prior to 1880 when he bought and operated a farm in Decatur, GA. After the death of his first wife, he remarried and moved to Mill Glen in Dekalb County, GA.

Thomas entered service in the C.S.A. from Cherokee County, GA on May 13, 1862 as a Private, he was captured at Vicksburg, Miss. July 4, 1863 and paroled there on July 8, 1863. He was discharged with a disability in 1864 and returned to his family in Decatur, GA.

There is no inscribed headstone on his grave; there is an uninscribed stone next to his wife..a centotaph (memorial) stone was placed in 1999 at McDonough, GA by his descendants (findagrave #20871263)
