After the breaking out of the war he enlisted in the service of his country in the year 1943, Joining the Marine Corps. He took his boot training at San Diego, California and later his basic training at Camp Pendleton, California.
After his basic training he left for overseas duty where he served as a scout for his platoon, at which time he received his promotion to Corporal.
