PEQUOT LAKES - The funeral for Elmer Hauge, 56, Route 1, Pequot Lakes, who died yesterday, will be 11 a.m., Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes.

The Rev. Paul Christopher will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hauge, who was born April 24, 1919 in southern Minnesota was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Brainerd VFW and Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Louise; a daughter, Mrs. Nedra Ball, Livermore, Calif; a brother Alvin, Pequot Lakes; a sister, June Dalton, Napa California; a his mother, Clara Ukiah, Calif. and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at Northland Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes, beginning 2.p.m. Friday and at the church one hour prior to services.

Those desiring may give memorials.

Elmer Hauge Dies In Bigfork
Elmer Hauge, 56, a highway patrol officer in this area for the past 21 years, died early this morning in Northern Itasca Hospital at Bigfork.

Patrol officials in Brainerd said today that Mr. Hauge was stricken in a restaurant near Bigfork while on a hunting trip with a companion in that area.

An autopsy was scheduled by Itasca County Coroner Dr. L.E. Karges. The corner told the Dispatch that the preliminary diagnosis was that death resulted either from choking or a heart attack.

Mr. Hauge was on sick leave from the patrol and was in the process of retiring.

He and his wife, Louise, lived at Star Route 1, Pequot Lakes.

Mr Hauge started with the patrol in 1964 and spent his first five years on the force stationed at Wadena. He was assigned to the Brainerd station in in 1969 and had been here since.

He was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Brainerd and had served at one time as its commander.
