MALAD BANKER H. E. THOMAS DIES AT 76
Malad - Henry E. Thomas, 76, executive vice-president of the First National Bank of Malad, died Sunday at his home, 260 Samaria Lane, after a long illness.
He was born July 25, 1888, at Malad, the son of Benjamin L. and Elizabeth Evans Thomas. He received his education in Malad schools and at the time of his death was executive vice-president of the bank.
He married Pearl Ward, Nov. 22, 1911, at Malad and the marriage was solemnized June 28, 1917, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was active in the LDS Church, having served it as Second Ward Sunday School superintendent, a member of the Malad LDS Stake Sunday School and Mutual Improvement Association board of directors, clerk of the Malad First Ward, and a counselor of the First Ward Bishopric for 12 years.
Mr. Thomas served on the Malad School Board for 25 years and was chairman of the board for 21 years. He was a member of the Oneida County Selective Service Board for several years and a charter member of the Malad Lions Club.
Survivors include his widow of Malad, four sons and two daughters, H. Ward Thomas, Malad; Bert Lester Thomas, Jacksonville, Fla.; Rollin W. Thomas, Soda Springs; Dr. Benjamin L. Thomas, Salt Lake City; Shelba Thomas, Malad, and Mrs. Robert (Janice) Colson, Blackfoot; 13 grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters, John E. Thomas, Chief of Police William E. Thomas, Daniel E. Thomas, Mrs. Annie Vanderwood and Mrs. Mary Morgan, all Malad.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Malad LDS Stake Chapel with Bishop Conrad C. Alder officiating. Friends may call at Benson Funeral Home Tuesday evening and Wednesday prior to time of services. Burial will be in the Malad city cemetery.
