Mr. Hudson helped form the Richmond County Life Underwriters Association and served as their first president. Under his leadership, the new group was admitted to the National Association of Life Underwriters in 1949. In the mid-1960's, he was elected as a director of the North Carolina Independent Insurance Agents Association. Mr. Hudson was president of the Richmond County General Agents Association, serving three different terms, and was on the board of directors of this group for many years. He was active in a number of civic organizations and was a member of the Rockingham Lions, Civitans and Rotary Clubs.
Funeral services were conducted in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Jordan and Mr. Hudson's cousin, Rev. Dan Jolly officiating. Burial followed in Richmond Memorial Park.
