Military Rites Held For Fred Churchill
Funeral services for Fred W. Churchill were held Monday afternoon at 2 pm at the Kuelbs & Braun Funeral chapel with the Rev. C. J. Hall officiating. During the service Mrs. Orval Newsham sang accompanied by Clara Erickson. Interment took place in the Cashmere cemetery with military rites conducted by the Cashmere American Legion Post 64 with Alvin Strutzel commander in charge.
Mr. Churchill passed away in a Wenatchee hospital Friday following an extended illness at the age of 50 years. He was born at Steuben, Wisconsin on Jun 24, 1899 and moved to Montana as a young man. He enlisted in the World War serving with the 7th Company of the Coast Artillery. Following his discharge he lived near Spokane for a while. He was united in marring to Nell Dowty on December 3, 1926 at Yakima, Washington and came to Cashmere to live making their home until 1935 when they moved to Omak which has been their home since that time. Mr. Churchill was also a member of World War II serving with the Quartermaster Corps. He leaves his wife, Nell; one sister and brother.
