Hazel B. Millay, 76, died Saturday (April 19, 1997) at Integrated Health Services in Claremont after a long illness.
Mrs. Millay was a former longtime Springfield resident having moved there in 1942 from Natchez, Miss.
She was a member of the Christadelphian Church of Springfield.
Mrs. Millay enjoyed being a homemaker along with crocheting, gardening, reading her Bible and caring for her animals.
She was born in Natchez on April 27, 1920, the daughter of Oscar T. and Lizzie A. (Downard) Seyfarth.
Mrs. Millay attended schools in Natchez.
On Feb. 27, 1942, she married Omar A. Austin. On Oct. 14, 1943, he was killed in action in Asia. On July 8, 1949, she married Archie E. Millay.
He died on April 23, 1980.
Survivors include two sons, Omar A. Austin of Chester and Everett A. Millay of Wilder, Vt.; one daughter, Evelyn Page of Unity; three sisters, Dora Summerell of Baton Rouge, La., Julia Shackleford of Baltimore, Md., and Mary Jacks of Meadville, Mo.; two brothers, Huey Seyfarth of Houston, Texas, and Oscar Seyfarth of Chattanooga, Okla.; five grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Oakland Cemetery in Springfield.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation or the charity of one's choice in lieu of flowers.
The Davis Memorial Chapel of Springfield is handling the arrangements.
