Floyd Franklin Rites Today At Elmore

Elmore - Funeral Services for Floyd Franklin are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Thursday at the Elmore Methodist Church with the Rev. A. J. Link officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth.

Mr. Franklin, 77, died Monday night, March 9, 1959 at his farm home north of Elmore. He had complained of pains in his chest early in the evening and suffered a fatal heart attack a few hours later.

He was born March 8, 1882 to Albert J. and Lillian Franklin of Blue Earth. He graduated from Blue Earth high school and attended Hamline University in St. Paul two years.

On March 23, 1910 he was married to Minna Goettel of Blue Earth who survives. They farmed in Verona township until 1929.

Mr. Franklin was a member of the Verona Farm Bureau, served as township clerk and on the school board. He organized the first 4-H club in Verona township and was active in farm youth work. He also helped organize the Elmore 4-H club.

He was a member of the Elmore Farm Bureau, active in Republican activities, a member of the Kind David Masonic lodge and honored last year for 50 years of active membership in the lodge.

Mr. Franklin retired from active farming about 1946 and continued to make his home on the farm. He was an independent insurance agent at the time of his death.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons James and Fredrick of Elmore. Two grandchildren and one sister, Hope Franklin, Blue Earth also survive.
