MRS. LAURA HACKLANDER:

Mrs. Laura Hacklander, nee Goettel, was born at Lansing, Iowa, on May 9, 1874 and passed to her eternal reward at her home in Blue Earth after a lingering illness on Tuesday morning, September 20, 1941 at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 21 days. She was the daughter of Gottlieb and Anna Goettel.

On May 24, 1894 she became the bride of Will Hacklander. There were four children born to this union all of whom are still living. In the year of her marriage she moved with her husband to Faribault county where they lived on a farm 3 miles north of Blue Earth. Thirty-three years later, in 1927 she moved with her husband to Blue Earth where she resided the rest of her life.

In the year 1931 her husband passed to his eternal reward leaving her to journey life's pathway alone.

She was a faithful and respected member of the Salem Evangelical church since her arrival in this community in 1894. For many years she was a member of the Ladies Aid society and the Women's Missionary society, having served as treasurer of both these organizations. She was also a member of the Wide Awake Bible Class as well as the WCTU. The days of her years were spent in a fine Christian devotion to her family, the church and those things that are of abiding worth and value.

She is survived by six brothers and sisters as follows: Aaron Goettel of Blue Earth, Dan Goettel of Lansing, Iowa, Mrs. Clara Sydow of Walters, Mrs. L. A. Roggensack of Fargo, N. D., Mrs. Floyd Franklin of Elmore and Mrs. R. F. Doescher, Yosemite National Park, California.
