John Thomas Nichols, 60, of Las Vegas, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009. Born Oct. 30, 1948, John grew up in Fairmont, Neb.
He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the military, John lived in Southern California, before settling permanently in Las Vegas for the past 30 years.
Throughout his years in Nevada, he held several positions serving the Las Vegas community.
In 1980, John married Virginia LaChance, and together, they raised two children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Ruby Nichols.
John is survived by his loving wife, of 29 years, Virge; son, Michael Nichols of Aurora, Colo.; daughter, Nicole Nichols of Las Vegas; brother, Stan Nichols of Fairmont, Neb.; and three grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Hites Funeral Home, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, NV 89011.
Graveside services will follow at 1:20 p.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV 89005.
