SGT US MARINE CORPS WWI & WWII (Note: his headstone marker does have WWII on it, but the photo that has been added to this memorial has the WWII covered up by dead grass at the bottom of the marker.

Jack Durham was the son of George Richard Durham and Anna Margaret Barber Durham. He was a member of the Draft Board in Dekalb Co., AL and served as a Sgt. in both WWI and WWII. He married first to Lydia Louise Walker on Dec. 22, 1920 in Dekalb Co., AL. She was the daughter of John Daniel Walker and Tima Caldonia Tindle Walker.

(1.) Eloise J. Durham (March 16, 1922 AL - June 19, 1990), she married Amon A. Suttles

(2.) Phyllis Durham (Feb. 11, 1924 AL - Apr. 10, 1994 AL), she married 1st to Charles Faye Holbrook/she married 2nd to Unknown Dingler.

(3.) George Durham (born abt. 1925)

(4.) Bill "Billy" Jack Durham (May 08, 1928 AL - Jan. 01, 2015 AL), he married Goldie Eller.

(5.) Ralph Lee Durham (July 19, 1931 AL - June 07, 2010 TX).

Jack and Lydia also had a store when their son Ralph was a boy. Lydia passed away in 1953 and Jack married second to Elma Lou Posey, the daughter of William Jackson Posey and Mary Palestine Stafford Posey. She was born July 02, 1898 in Dekalb Co., AL and died Nov. 21, 1986 in AL. She is buried at Mount Hermon Cemetery, Pine Ridge, Dekalb Co., AL. There were no additional children by their marriage. Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Payne.

We, the undersigned Harris Engineering Company, Civ. Engineers and Surveyors, by Robert E. Harris, a partner thereof, and Jack Durham and his wife, Elma durham, owners of the land shown by and on the attached plat or map, do hereby certify that this plat or map is a correct plat or map of the subdivision of Lots Numbers 125 and 126 of the J. E. Lloyd Survey of the City of Fort Payne, Alabama, to be known as the Jack Durham Subdivision of said Lots Numbers 125 and 126 of said J. E. Lloyd Survey, and shows and gives the length and bearings of each lot and its number. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, We have hereunto set our hands, this 14th day of April, 1956.
