Patrick W. Lightfoot, 38, of Goliad, native of Mertens, died in Refugio Saturday as a result of an automobile accident.
Services were held at Goliad Sunday with a naval chaplain from Beeville conducting the rites. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
Another service was held Monday at 3 p.m. from the Mertens Baptist Church with burial in the Mertens cemetery. Chaplain Asa Hunt, Connally Air Force Base, conducted the rites.
Surviving are his wife and two children, Larry and Lynda Lightfoot, all of Goliad; other, Mrs. Grace Lightfoot, Mertens; a brother, Paul Lightfoot, Houston, and other relatives.
Deptuty Sheriff Hodges reported the mishap happend on U.S. Highway 77, a half mile south of Refugio when Lightfoot, traveling alone, misjudged the distance of a cattle truck, driven by Walter Porter,Jr. of Cuero as he attempted to pass the truck.
Connally AFB provided the pallbearers.
