Edward F. Packard, known as "Buzz" Packard, age 83, passed away January 17, 2008 at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home in Gladwin, Michigan.

Edward Packard was born on September 28, 1924, the son of Edward F. and Erna M. (Koppen) Packard Sr. in Berkley, Michigan.

Buzz proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in September 1945.

Buzz married Elizabeth Elenore Carveth on June 10, 1950 who passed away in 1962. He then married Jean Louise Ward Carlstrom who passed away in 1992.

He retired from the Southfield Fire Department in 1965 and moved his family to Harrison. Since moving to Harrison, he worked as a well driller, heavy equipment operator, school bus driver and most recently as the Hardware Manager for Quik Stop.

Buzz was extremely proud to be a life member of the V.F.W. Post #1075, D.A.V., Masonic Lodge of Berkley, Michigan, Military Order of Purple Hearts, and the Hatton Hills Hunt Club and a member of the American Legion Post #404. He also enjoyed to hunt, fish, and golf, travel, build model airplanes and spend time with his family and friends.

Buzz was survived by four sons, Edward F. Packard III and wife Janet of Lewiston, MI., John Carlstrom of Harrison, Kelly Packard of Boyne City, MI., Mark Carlstrom and wife Tamara of Harrison, two daughters, Jayne LaPointe and husband Mike of Thorn Hill, TN., Colleen Brooks and husband Richard of Advance, NC., one sister, Evalyne Onsted of Onsted, MI., 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

Buzz was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Erna Packard, his sister June Haney, her husband Robert Haney, their children Scott Haney and Beth Haney, a brother-in-law Ross Onsted, his son Gary Onsted and a daughter-in-law, Michele Carlstrom.

Funeral at Stocking Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Baxter officiating. The V.F.W. Post #1075, Harrison, conducted veteran's honors.

Buzz's cremains were interred at the St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery
