Raymond N. Heer, was the son of Walter Heer and Anna Schmeltzer. He had six siblings; Mamie(1885), Clarence(1887), John Walter(1891), Benjamin(1893), Helen(1900), and George(1907) all have passed away, the last being George Heer's wife, Marie Fakler who passed in 2009. Raymond was the grandson of David H. Heer, civil war veteran and his wife Martha Evans Heer. His maternal grandparents were John F. Smeltzer and Mary A.
Raymond married twice first to Florence Maycroft whom he divorced when she left him for a boyfriend she had kept seeing during their marriage, they were divorced in 1927 on the grounds of abandonment. He married second Catherine Grace White, (born 17 June 1894 in Bloomington, Illinois) on 2 Jan 1928 at Saint Thomas of Canterbury Church, Chicago, Illinois. Raymond and Grace had one son, Medard Raymond Heer, born 27 Feb 1931 and died 1 May 1993, he was my father. He married Deborah Mae Hegberg and had four children; Jennifer. Raymond died in 1971, Grace left Tucson to live with her son in Chicago and passed away in 1989 four years before her son.

I met my grandfather once when I was about 3 years old, and I do remember the visit and wish I could have known him longer. He and my father are why I got into genealogy, because I wanted to know more about them. Now I know more about everyone but them.
