Forest Eugene Orvis passed away at his home in Arthur Township Saturday afternoon, November 18, following a year of ill health.

The son of Riley and Martha Orvis, he was born April 20, 1882, in Sheridan Township. He married Florence Runyon on June 24, 1903, and she passed away early in life leaving small children. On December 13, 1919, he was united in marriage to Alta Spicer, who died in 1949.

Mr. Orvis was a farmer and lumberman and was a member of the Arthur Center Church of God.

He leaves eight children: four sons, Floren and Budd of Pontiac, Norman of Clare and Ronald of Midland; four daughters, Mrs. Wellington Badgley of Clare, Mrs. Robert Day and Mrs. Richard Bertsch, both of Tawas City, and Mrs. Ward Cuddy of Gladwin; 38 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Gerow and Mrs. Ethel Kirkpatrick of Clare.

His brother, Ervin, preceded him in death by only a few hours.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 20, at 10:00 o'clock, from the Arthur Center Church of God. Rev. Charles Hilliard officiated, and burial was in Arthur Township Cemetery. Stephenson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
