Services for A.A. "Sparky" Sparkman, 84, of Lubbock will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in W.W. Rix Chapel with the Rev. John Ballard officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

He died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001.

He was born Sept. 8, 1916, in Haskell County. He married Marie Enlow on April 13, 1941, in Lubbock. He moved to Lubbock in 1923 and attended school in Lubbock. He owned and operated Texas Cream Donuts from 1944 until his retirement in 1973 and later worked for Harvey Advertising in specialty advertising sales. He was a Mason with more than 50 years of membership. He was a member of the York and Scottish Rite bodies, 32nd degree KCCH, a Shriner, a former director of the Khiva Temple, a trustee for the Shrine Bowl Football Program and past president of the South Plains Shrine Club. He was a past director of the Texas Baker's Association and a 50-year member of the Lions Club. He was a Charter Member of Forrest Heights United Methodist Church and was a member of the Downtown Bible Class.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Becky Miller of Lubbock and Linda Rucker of Aztec, N.M.; two sisters, Ruby Kattmann of Lubbock and Leota Rampy; a brother, Paul Sparkman of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
