She was born on May 5, 1924, in Harnett County near Baptist Grove Baptist Church. She was the sole surviving and youngest child of Lonnie Frank and Nolie Arnold.
She was preceded in death by sons, Jesse Wade Bowling Jr. and Ted Randy Bowling; daughter, Cindy Thompson Lamm; two grandchildren; and 19 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. May 24 at Williford Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Talton. Burial was 2 p.m. May 26 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina.
Survivors include daughters, Judy Bowling Talton and husband Sheron, Paula Thompson Wall and husband Shelby of Fuquay-Varina; stepdaughter, Sonja Thompson Yagel of Rougemont; stepson, James Samuel Thompson III of Durham; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
