DUBLIN - James Burton Taylor, age 86 of Dublin passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 in the Radford Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Radford after a long illness following a stroke. He was born Mar. 5, 1917 in Parkers Lake, Ky., the son of the late Elmer and Zola Taylor. Three brothers, and son-in-law also preceded him in death. He worked 43 years in the coal mines in W. Va. before retiring in 1980. He and his wife, Corene moved to Dublin from Caretta, W. Va. in 1980. They were married for 66 years. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and mowing his yard on his John Deere. He was known for growing lots of potatoes. He leaves behind wife: Corene Taylor, Dublin; two daughters, Phyllis Dodson, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Wanda Swecker and husband, Lawrence Swecker, Beltsville, Md.; four grandchildren, Randy Swecker and wife, Leslie Swecker, Mt. Airy, Md., Karen Bonnin and husband, Stephen Bonnin, LaPlata, Md., Steven Dodson and wife, Mary Dodson, Naples, Fla., Michael Dodson, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; three great grandchildren, Emily Swecker, Nathan and Nicole Bonnin; sister, Pearl Miller, Whitley City, Ky.; brother, Alva Taylor, Muncie, Ind. Funeral services will be conducted Friday 1 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Chaplain Thomas Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, is handling the arrangements for the family.
