Sheriff A. Calvin Basehoar is a son of Amos and Catherine Basehoar of Union township, where he was born in 1868. He is the nephew of George Basehoar, of public schools. He was educated in the public schools. He has been a successful farmer, first on his father's farm and then on his own farm in Cumberland township. He was married in 1890 to Miss Laura Wilson, daughter of David and Catherine Wilson. For the last two years he has been tax collector in Cumberland County.

A. Calvin Basehoar, the Republican candidate for Sheriff, a son of Amos and Catherine Basehoar, was born in 1868 in Union township and educated in the public schools of this county. He lived with his father on the farm until his marriage in 1890 to Miss Laura Wilson, of Mount Joy township, a daughter of David and Catherine Wilson, deceased, after which he successfully conducted his father's farm for five years in the same township, when he purchased the "Ruff Farm" in Cumberland township and resided there on for six years as a successful farmer.

He has been an active worker in the party all his life and two years ago was elected as tax collector in Cumberland township, and has faithfully discharged his duties.

He is a member of Mount Joy Lutheran church, and has served as deacon for two years.

This gentleman will greatly appreciate the support given him by all.

He is always willing to help any good cause along, he is considered kind and courteous and if elected will try to faithfully execute the duties of the office.

A.C. BASEHOAR DIES SATURDAY

Amos Calvin Basehoar, 78, former sheriff of Adams County, died very suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage early Saturday at his home in Taneytown. He had been in his usual health, until stricken.

Mr. Basehoar was a son of the late Amos and Katherine Sheely Basehoar, and was twice married. His first wife, Mrs. Laura Wilson Basehoar, preceded him in death about ten years ago. His second wife, Mrs. Lulu Benner Basehoar, survives, along with one brother, Dr. J.S. Basehoar, Hyattsville, and one sister, Mrs. david M. Mehring, Taneytown.

For seven years Mr. Basehoar was a citizen of Gettysburg and operated fruit orchards near there. he was a member of St. James Lutheran church, Gettysburg.

Funeral services from the C.O. Fuss and son funeral home, Taneytown, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with further services from Trinity Lutheran church, Taneytown, conducted by the Rev. Dr. R.R. Gresh, Gettysburg, assisted by the Rev. William L. Stahl. Internment in Evergreen cemetery, Gettysburg.
