Son of Lathrop Bugbee and Clarissa Boyce.

On 12 Jul 1861 Osgood, a boot-treer, mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Leominster, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was 26 years, 10 months and 5 days old.
On 2 Mar 1862 he ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts due to disability.

On 18 Oct 1863 Osgood, 29, married Mary W. Tucker, 25, daughter of Hosea Tucker and Evelina Holmes, at Spencer, Worcester County, Massachusetts, in a first marriage for both.
Their children were Charles, Clarence and Elenor (who died in 1879). Clarence can be found on the 1930 census for Oxford with sons: James, Fred and William.

In the 1870 census, Osgood is living in Oxford, MA. He is listed as a Lin Pedler, with wife Mary W. age 32, son Charles age 5 and daughter Elenor age 3.

Osgood applied for a veteran's pension on 11 Nov 1878, and received certificate number 361062.

In the 1880 census Osgood is the Warden of the Webster town Farm, with wife Mary W. age 42 and son Charles 15.

Osgood was enumerated in the 1890 US Federal census, Veteran's Schedule in Jun 1890 at Spencer, MA, as having served in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, Company A.

In the 1900 census, he is living on Southern Outer Semicircle, Spencer.
He died on 10 Jun 1907 at Spencer, Worcester County, Massachusetts, of heart disease. He was 72 years, 9 months and 3 days old.
In 1907 his wife, Mary, received a widow's pension in Massachusetts based on Osgood's service.
