Francis and Emma Ludey married on 15 February 1871. They had six children of whom only two were still living by the time of the 1900 Census, Mary Emma Ludey Crane and Louisa Beryl Ludey Bonney. According to the marriage certificate, Francis' parents' names were Jacob and Eliza. They were both born in German-speaking area of Switzerland.
Francis was very active in the Methodist Episcopal Church of Bayonne, NJ. The 1880 Census states his occupation was "Gas Fitter." The 1910 Census refers to him as a "Mechanic".
Francis lies buried in Evergreen Cemetery under a government marker (for Civil War service) and a family marker. He was buried on January 19, 1918.
