Well-Known Resident of Hoosick Falls Dies at His Residence in That Place - Prominent in Affairs of Town
Sanford H. Rudd, a prosperous farmer of the town of Hoosick, died Friday at his residence in that place. He was born in Bennington, Vt., March 1, 1827, the son of the late David Rudd and the grandson of Joseph Rudd, who fought in the battle of Bennington. Mr. Rudd moved to Hoosick Falls about fifty years ago and purchased a 200-acre farm, which he has since occupied. He served as Town Assessor for seven years, and was President of the Old Men's Association of the town of Hoosick, being the second oldest member of that organization. He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Celestia Mattison; four sons, Ernest F., Warren J., Archie L. and Ebb Rudd, and three daughters, Mrs. George L. White, Mrs. William White and Mrs. Thomas F. Howe, all residing in Hoosick. Thirty-one grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren also survive.
