JOHN FELL RITCHEY
John Fell Ritchey, oldest child of James Quinn and Lydia Jane Maddy Ritchey, was born in Monroe County, Iowa, October 23, 1883 and passed away at his farm home in a tragic tractor accident, Thursday afternoon, June 17, at the age of 81 years, seven months and six days. When he didn't return home in the evening his wife found him pinned underneath his tractor.
On December 9, 1914, he was united in marriage to Susan Adella Umbenhower. Their entire 50 years of married life was spent on their home farm, where he was occupied with farming and shop work.
He was a thoughtful and loving husband and a good neighbor and friend to everyone.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and a brother, who died three months ago.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife, one sister, Mrs. Henry (Martha) Grimes, two nieces, Mrs. Guy (Cleo) Raffety and Mrs. Caryl (Guyletha) Storm and a host of other relatives and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 1965, at the Coal Glen Methodist church. The Rev. V. E. Shickell officiated at the services. Interment was in the Coal Glen Cemetery.
