This is my great great great granfather:
William is the son of John Shannon Snidow and Mahala Lucas. John Shannon father was Jacob Snidow.Mahala's father was William Lucas and her grandfather was Parker Lucas. Both Parker Lucas and Jaob Snidow served in the Revolutionary War and I have file application documenting this line with the DAR on both of these Patriots.

On 6-27-1849, William married Elizabeth
Campbell Brown , daughter of Abraham Brown. He was a carpenter and farmer. He also spent 16 years in the lower house of the Missouri Legislature. Beginning in 1864, he was in the MO Senate for 4 years.

W.L. Snidow.

At his home 4 miles southeast of Weaubleau, Wednesday night Sep 23,1903 Capt. W.L. Snidow passed from this life, after a lingering illness of partial paralysis of which he had been a patient sufferer for several weeks. A loving husband, and father and a kind neighbor and a patriotic citizen has passed away to await resurrection morn. A short biographical sketch is given below which will give his many friends and admirers some facts concerning his life. This sketch is taken from the official manual of Missouri for the years 1897-8.
William Lucas Snidow of Weaubleau was born in Giles County ,Va. Feb 13,1829 removing to this state on November of 1849 located in Monroe county: educated in the old log school house with dirt floor and paper windows served in the Home Guard as Captain, Co B , 60th Regiment, EMM; had served as deputy sheriff and collector of this county, State Senator for four years being elected in 1864 and members of the 25th,26th,28th,31st, 33rd and 34th General assembly; farmer; married.
It is said of him that he voted "No" on more measures than any other member ever in the general assembly. Deceased , at his request , was laid to rest on his own farm under a beautiful spreading oak. In the absence of the minister who was expected to conduct the burial service , Dr. Fred Mitchell of Humansville made a few touching remarks regarding faithfulness, integrity, noble and manly qualities of the deceased. Song service was hold by those present. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his departure. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in this, their sad bereavement. .

I personally located and photographed the graves. I joined the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War through him.
