HODGE, Maynard Russell, 81, of Christiansburg, died Monday, February 18, 2002, at his home. He was born in Eggleston, Va. on February 25, 1920, to the late W.H. and Bertie Sartin Hodge. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and James Hodge, his sisters, Mary Latta and Louise Church, two grandsons, Eric Richardson and Jarrett Hodge, and a granddaughter, Kristie Richardson. He was a veteran of World War II having fought under Patton in the 29TH Infantry Division. He retired from Cooper Industries after 20 years of service and he was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Kanode Hodge of Christiansburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Kenneth Richardson of Christiansburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Marsha Hodge of McCoy; a grandson, Patrick Hodge; a granddaughter, Amanda and Tommy Gwinn; a great-grandson, Caleb Gwinn; stepchildren, Joan Henderson and husband, Richard of Massillon, Ohio, Marie Alban and husband, Harry of Hollywood, S.C., Debbie Specht and husband, Bill of Bossier City, La., Eric Nowlin and wife, Carrie of Riner, Philip Nowlin and wife, Sherri of Roanoke; nine stepgrandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry "Preston" and Polly Hodge of Blacksburg, Arnold "Tooter" and Dorothy Hodge of Blacksburg, Lewis "Monk" Hodge of Radford; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Lena Brooks of Elliston, Margaret and Harry Fenton of Blacksburg, Mae Cromer of Floyd, Isabelle and Claude Drinkwater of Crewe, Va., Patricia and John Sweeney of Christiansburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the First Church of God with Pastor Keith Paff and Rev. Ronnie Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon on Tuesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg
