SMITHVILLE -- Lillie Mae Wingard, 88, of Smithville and formerly of Hollsopple, Pa., went home to be with her Lord, Saturday afternoon, March 8, 2003, at the Apostolic Christian Home, Rittman, following several months of declining health.
Lillie was born near Kidron, Ohio and was the oldest child of Phillip and Rosena (Moser) Berg. She had resided in the Kidron area until she married Aldus J. Wingard on May 4, 1940, in Orrville and then moved to Hollsopple, Pa. He survives.
In August 1995, she and Aldus moved to Smithville, Ohio to live with their daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Gerald "Gary" Nissley.
Lillie worked at the Dorfman-Hoffman Sewing Factory as an inspector in Boswell, Pa. for 23 years.
She was a member and very active with Thomas Mennonite Church of (Thomas Mills) in Hollsopple, Pa. and participated in the Women's Missionary Society and as a volunteer working at World's Attic.
In addition to her loving husband and daughter and son-in-law of Smithville, she is survived by three grandchildren, Stacy (Andrew) Lauer, DeShon Patterson and Ryan Nissley; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Patterson and Breeann Lauer; a sister, Rosella Cukr of Calgary, Canada and a half-sister, Mabel Turner of Kidron.
Lillie was preceded in death by four half-sisters, four half-brothers, a sister and a brother.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Thomas Mennonite Church, Hollsopple, Pennsylvania. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home, Davidsville, Pennsylvania on Wednesday and one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment will be at the church cemetery.
