Amstutz, Mahlon S., 93, loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 23, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm, at Salem United Methodist Cemetery in Bushton, KS. Mahlon graduated from Asbury College in 1939 and pursued further training for ministry in New York. In 1941, he married Ruth Behnke of Bushton, KS. He took pastorates for several years in Omaha and Meadow Grove, NE. From 1945-1987, Mahlon and Ruth served as missionaries in Chile. Following retirement, they lived in Bradenton, Florida for 20 years, remaining involved in church planting and community/ prison ministries. In 2007, they moved to Wichita, where Ruth preceded Mahlon in death in October, 2008. Survivors: sons, Drs. Mark and Donna Amstutz of Wheaton, IL, Dr. Samuel and Carol Amstutz of Wichita, and Mr. James and Karie Amstutz of Minneapolis, MN; daughters, Carolyn Mizzau of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Nelda and Rev. Paul Johnson of Quito, Ecuador; brother, Jonathan (Anna Lou); sisters, Lois Bryan and Elizabeth (Rev. Olan) Hendrix; grandchildren, Marcos, Laura, Carla, Anne, Caroline, Debbi, Erin, David, Abigail, Paul, Carl, Daniel, and Luke; 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with the Christian&Missionary Alliance for church construction in Antofagasta, Chile, where Mahlon and Ruth last served as missionaries.
