Watson Strickland
Watson Smith Strickland Sr 82 of Georgetown a yardmaster with International Paper Company for 23 years died Monday Oct 10 1988 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be today Oct 12 1988 at 4 pm at Wayne United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev Melvin Calvert and the Rev John D Williams. Burial with Masonic rites will be directed by Johnson Graham Funeral Home in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr Strickland a son of the late Stephen Elias Strickland and Florence Idella Burns Strickland was born on June 17 1906 in Pavo Ga. He had lived in Georgetown most of his life. He was a charter member of Wayne United Methodist Church an honorary member of the Curtis Bell Sunday School class and the Methodist Men's Club. He was also a past Master of Layfayette Masonic Lodge No 390.
His wife Mrs Edna Mae Bunn Strickland died on May 31 1986.
Surviving are a son W Smith Strickland Jr of Columbia two daughters Mrs Louise S McWhite and Mrs Laura Jane Kirkland both of Georgetown; a brother Stephen Monroe Strickland of Sumter a sister Mrs Selma S Cross of Lakeland Fla; seven grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
