Henry's birth date and birth place are unknown. However, he would have been born prior to 1667 since he was rated at Billerica in 1688. At the time of his death Needham was part of Suffolk County in the Province of Massachusetts Bay.

Attempts have been made to place him in the family of John Alden of the Mayflower; however, no proof has been presented to corroborate this assumption. "The Great Migration Begins" at AmericanAncestors.com:

"Attempts have been made to include Henry Alden of Billerica, Roxbury and Dedham as a descendant of John Alden, but this cannot be. Henry Alden was rated in Billerica in 1688 [NEHGR 31:303], so he must have been born no later than 1667. The wills of John Alden's sons John and Joseph make it clear that neither of them had a son Henry. John Alden's son Jonathan did not marry until 1672 and his son David apparently even later than that. Henry Alden must have been a late immigrant to New England, with no known genealogical connection with John Alden of Plymouth and Duxbury [MD 42:21ff.]."

Henry was first married to Deborah whose last name has not been learned. Their children were Deborah, Susannah, Alice, Thomas, Henry, John, and William.

He married secondly Elizabeth Coller/Collier on 15 August 1719 at Weston, Massachusetts. They were both of Natick at the time. They had no children. It is possible that this Elizabeth was Elizabeth Ross, widow of John Coller. They were the parents of Thomas Coller who married Alice Alden, daughter of Henry and Deborah.

Henry "Alldin" was one of the signers of the Petition for the Incorporation of Needham. The petition requested that a portion of Dedham be made into a new town called Needham. The original document is in the State Archives. His gravestone (which appears to be fairly recent) bears his signature as it appears on the petition.
