Mr. Swank was born in Zuma township, Nov. 2, 1888, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Swank. He was married to Miss Iva Becht (sic) on Feb. 15, 1917 in Rock Island. For several years he was employed at the Velie Carriage works in Moline, but later took up his work as Department Manager with the M. L. Parker company.
He was a member of the Church of Peace, Rock Island, and of the Moline consistory of the (unreadable) lodge.
Mr. Swank was preceded in death by a brother, John. Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Miss Marian Swank at home and Mrs. John Carnaghi, of Rock Island; four sisters, Mrs. Charles Meehan and Mrs. Laura Long, of Rock Island; Mrs. William Luchman of Moline, and Mrs. Milton Babcock, of Milan; three brothers, J. Samuel Swank of Rock Island, Frank, of Chicago, and David of Comstock, Wis., and a granddaughter, Jane Carnaghi, of Rock Island.
Funeral services were held in Estherdahl chapel in Moline with the Rev. Frederick J. Rolf, pastor of the Church of Peace, officiating. Burial was in the Rock Island Memorial park cemetery.
