GLENN NATHANIEL BLEVINS

BAKERSVILLE - Glenn Nathaniel Blevins, 80 died Monday, April,7,2003. He was the son of Ed and Ethel Blevins, and husband of the late Bernita Hughes Blevins. He was also preceded in death by one son, Glenn N. Blevins Jr. He was an accountant, employed by Feldspar Corporation in Spruce Pine. He was a member of the Spruce Pine Kiwanis Club, seerved on the Board of Education and Board of Northwestern Bank, and was instrumental in founding the Grassy Creek Golf Course. A U.S. Navy veteran of WWll, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine where he served on the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee, and was a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. An avid golfer and pool player, he won the 2002 Mitchell County Seniors Citizen Pool Tournament. Surivors include three daughters, Pat Blevins Webster, Mamie Alice Blevins, Mary Blevins; and seven grandchildren. He had a younger brother, Charles Edward; and and a younger sister, Aileen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church. David Vess will officiate. Burial will follow in Green-Young Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9p.m. Friday at First Baptist.
