JOHN J. ATTEBERY
---John J. Attebery was born April 3, 1834 in Woodford county, Illinois. In 1850 he moved with his parents, William P. Attebery and wife to Macon county, Missouri. He was married to Elizabeth F. Moody November 5, 1857, living in Macon county for a time then moved to Knox county, near Locust Hill. To this union one child was born, Marshall Attebery who now resides in Idaho.
---Later on his wife was called home. On December 16, 1869 he was married to Mrs. Anna M. Porter. To this union a little daughter was born, both of them having gone on before. On May 8, 1873, he was married to Essie E. Baker. To this union eight children were born, who were all present, five boys and three girls as follows; Lawrence, Johny, Carl, Frank, Orin, Mrs. Ethel Hawkins, Mrs. Ina Mock and Miss Anna Attebery; one own sister, Mrs. Dr. Cunningham of La Plata; one half-brother, Willie Attebery of Fulton; one half sister, Mrs. Nancy Luisan of Shelby county, Tom and Henry of Oklahoma.
---In 1901 he moved to Illinois Bend, Adair county, and lived there until his death September 26, 1913, aged seventy-nine years, five months and twenty-three days.
---Having been in poor health five months, he was very patient during his sickness and was administered unto by all that loving hands could do.
---He united with the Christian Church at about the age of eighteen.
---Funeral services were held at the Christian Church conducted by Rev. H.A. Browning and Rev. Youtz and laid to rest in the La Plata cemetery September 28, 1913, leaving a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
