MRS. AMANDA FEY
nee Strouse was born in White Hall, Lehigh Co., Pa., June 12, 1845, and died at her home in Naperville, Ill., Sept. 24, 1908, after a short, but very severe illness, lasting two weeks and a half.
Mrs. Fey came to Naperville with her parents when but a child, and, with few exceptions, this has been her home ever since. Her early life was spent mostly among strangers, her mother dying when she was only nine years old.
February 18, 1869, she was married to her now bereaved husband, Wm. Fey. To this union seven children were born, four girls and three boys; one girl and one boy, having preceded mother to the spirit world. The five living children are Reuben H. Fey of Chicago, Clinton H., Nettie A., Mrs. Minnie V. Fry, and Emma F., all of Naperville, and two grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her sudden departure, three brothers and one sister, Louis Strouse of Minneapolis, Minn.; Albert of Marshalltown, Iowa; Simon of Winona, Minn., and Mrs. Matilda Long of Portland, Indiana.
Mrs. Fey was converted about forty-five years ago in the old brick church of the Evangelical association in Naperville.
Her christian life was quietly lived out mostly in her home where she was loved and cherished with all the fondness due to a kind and queenly mother.
She has, for many years, had serious difficulty with her hearing, which shut her away from society somewhat, but she was always cheerful. She was a great reader and kept herself well posted as to what was going on about her, and also manifested a deep and practical concern for her fellowmen, especially for the sick and needy.
Many kind acts might be recorded in her favor, but sister Fey rests from her labors, and her works do follow her. The Lord comfort the hearts of her bereaved family and friends and bring us all at last at the great reunion in the skies.
We wish to express our heartfelt thanks for the kindness of friends and neighbors in our late bereavement.
Wm. Fey and family.
