Memorial services for Lady Jane Bredt, 100, of Houston, formerly of Rockdale, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, at St. John's United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in IOOF Cemetery.

Mrs. Bredt died Sunday, May 17, at Clarwood House in Houston.

She was born Nov. 29, 1908, in Guthrie to Hal D. and Nellie (O'Dell) Ferrell.

She married George E. Bredt on March 1, 1934, in Austin.

Mrs. Bredt was a Rockdale resident for most of her life and spent the past eight years in Houston.

She was a housewife and worked with her husband in various businesses that they owned in Rockdale.

Mrs. Bredt was a graduate of Quanah High School and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Rockdale.

She was a former member of the Thursday Reading Club and she helped establish the Girl Scouts of America in Rockdale.

Mrs. Bredt was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Bredt, and her parents.

Survivors are a daughter, Jan Bredt Knight of Houston; and two grandsons, Kynn Bredt Knight and wife Alma and their son Ethan and daughter Summer of Carlsbad, California, Kraig Steven Knight and his son Brayden and daughter Morgan of Lakewood, Colorado.
