Services for Joe Grubbs, 69 of Rockdale will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009 in the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with the Rev. Doug Springer officiating.

Visitation, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2009 at the funeral home.

Joe was born April 5, 1940 in Pontia, Texas to Myrt William and Rachel Arminda (Bush) Grubbs. He was a 1958 graduate of Rockdale High School.

He had worked as a Directional Driller for Halliburton 32 years, from 1972 until 2004. Joe was a member of Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale, an avid deer hunter, loved his family and friends and meeting his coffee drinking buddies every afternoon.

Joe passed away Monday morning, May 4, 2009 at his home in Rockdale. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of their children, Edith Modeen Brown Grubbs on March 12, 1970. His parents, brother Richard Eugene Grubbs, sister Betty Ruth Alexander and grandchild Casey Dale Isham.

Surviving: Son, David Ray Grubbs of Brownsboro. Daughters, Donna Lynette Isham of Tyler and Denise Gayle Boynton of Tyler. Brothers, John William Grubbs of Rockdale, Edward Glenn Grubbs of Silsbee and Leonard Thomas Grubbs of Kountze. Sisters, Polly Ann Shmock of Temple, Monki Kieffer of Burnet and Bennye Joy Plumlee of San Antonio. Grandchildren, Kristi Zea, Jennifer Durham, Brittany Reed, Brianna Reed, Kayla Reeves, Rachel Grubbs, Hunter Grubbs, Seth Boynton, Garrett Boynton. Great grandchildren, Zachary Zea and Zoey Zea.

Pallbearers; Maxie Ward, Robert Walker, Gary Johnson, Bo Knesek, Larry Rubino, Charles Diver.
Honorary pallbearers; Frog Sorenson, Shane Herklotz, Fuzzy Herklotz, Dennis Carney, Don Hammond, Michael Vidrine, Tom Alejandro, Bobby Walker.
