Former Resident, Mrs. Roy Stockdale Dies at Cabool, Missouri

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church Wednesday for Mrs. Roy Stockdale, who passed away last Saturday. The Rev. Delmar Poe officiated at the services. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery under the direction of the Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stockdale was born Bessie May Miller, daughter of Alice and John Miller, near Kellerton, Iowa, on July 3, 1880 and died in the Texas County Hospital on February 20, 1960. She was reared in Milton, Iowa, at the home of Rebecca Deal.

She was married to Robert Roy Stockdale on January 8th, 1901 at the Deal home by George A. Hendrickson, who was minister of the Christian Church.

When only 12 years of age she was converted and was very active in Christian work and has lived a very consecrated life before her family, neighbors, friends and her motto always was help me to live, for others Lord, that I may live like thee.

To this union was born five children: Cyneska who died in infancy, Mrs. Earl Maples of Turlock, California; Leonard E. Stockdale of Memphis, Missouri; Mrs. Earl McGrury of Redondo Beach California. She also leaves on foster daughter, Mrs. Tesley Piper of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 13 grandchildren, and scores of friends and neighbors in Milton, Cantril, and Keosauqua, Iowa and Whaton and Cabool, Missouri - contributed by The Cabool Enterprise.
