Richard Theodore Hoffstetter of Perryville died suddenly on Monday morning, Oct. 23, at the age of 65 years. Mr. Hoffstetter became ill Saturday night and was taken to the Southeast Hospital at Cape Girardeau and placed in the intensive care department. He died of an apparent blood clot of the lung. He was born on Dec. 29, 1906, in Perryville, a son of Theodore and Magdaline (Ochs) Hoffstetter. On Aug. 12, 1933, he married Loraine Prevallet, who survives. Also surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Martin (Lois) Bohnert of Perryville; four brothers, Harry of St. Louis and Otto, Louis and Gus Hoffstetter of Perryville, and one grandchild. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Hoffstetter went to work for the International Shoe Co. when it began its operation in Perryville in September of 1925 and worked his way up to foreman of the fitting room. He retired last January from Pennington & Sons of McBride and worked part-time for the American Legion since that time. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Perryville. The body was in state at Young & Sons Chapel until noon Wednesday, Oct. 25, when it was taken to Immanuel Lutheran Church for services at 2 by the Rev. W. F. Neumann. Interment was in the church cemetery. (His wife is buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Perryville)
