Obituary from the Shreveport Times newspaper, Feb. 15, 1996, Thursday, p. 2-B:SHREVEPORT, LA – Services for Ennis B. Akin, age 68, of Shreveport, will be held Friday, February 16, 1996 at 1 p.m. at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. H. D. Smith, pastor of Western Hills Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Park West.Mr. Akin died on Wednesday, February 14, 1996 at Overton Brooks V.A. Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Bowie County, TX and was a former resident of Texarkana, TX. He had lived in Shreveport since 1950 and was a retired salesman. He was a Methodist, a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Fricks Akin.Survivors include one son, Wayne Akin and wife, Sherry of Bossier City; one daughter, Cindy Lewis and husband, Larry of Shreveport; two sisters, Lee Akin of Texarkana, TX, and Lila Stroup of Texarkana, AR; one brother, Ellis Akin of Conroe, TX; two grandchildren, Kimberly Pitts and husband, Eric, and Jeffery Akin; and one great grandchild, Tyler Pitts.Pallbearers will be Mr. Akin’s nephews and friends.
