Alyce Eleanor Blydenburgh Dean , 80, formerly of Canton, died early Thursday at Community Nursing Home, Potsdam.

Mrs. Dean was supervisor of protective care with the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services.

Born Oct. 1, 1919, in Bayshore, Long Island, daughter of John Alphonsus and Eleanor Elizabeth Weickart Blydenburgh, she was a graduate of Bayshore High School, Central Islip School of Nursing and Empire State College, Albany. She married Leo Francis Dean on Sept. 27, 1942, in Islip. He died July 15, 1977.

Surviving are three daughters, three sons, two brothers, two sisters, 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Five brothers, Emmanuel, Eugene, Bernard, John and the Rev. Edwin Blydenburgh, died before her.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam, with the Rev. John P. Kennehan officiating. Burial will be in Hermon Cemetery.
