Charles R. Bass, prominent Elysian valley rancher and native of Lassen county died in Susanville's Riverside hospital early Tuesday morning following a long illness. Born at Janesville, Mr. Bass was seventy years old.
Member of a pioneer Lassen county family, Bass was well known throughout the entire county. Besides his widow, Mrs. Janie H. Bass, he leaves two daughters and five sons including, Mrs. Clara Talbot of Mare Island; Mrs. Lola Millar of Susanville, and Howard, Warren, Claude and Dudley Bass, all of Janesville. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Hansen, Steve and Rolland Bass of Standish.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the Morrill mortuary in Susanville with the Rev. C.A. Collett of the First Baptist church officiating.
