Long-Time Resident Dies of Heart Attack While Telephoning.

The long and useful life of Mrs. Milo Haight came to an unexpected end here Monday evening about 8 o'clock as she was talking to a friend on the telephone. She died just a few minutes later and death was attributed to a heart ailment.
Scores of friends were present on Wednesday afternoon at the funeral service at the Methodist church to pay their final respects. A service at the Spencer-Armstrong funeral home preceded the church services. The Methodist choir contributed two selections and the Rev. C.W. Gilman, pastor of the church, officiated.
Pall bearers were I.A. Babcock, George Loft, Arthur Porter, H.S. Scheaffer, F.M. Grinnell and George Andrews. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.
Mrs. Ella M. Haight, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J.P. Humes, was born in Winnebago, August 22, 1871. Her residence has always been Winnebago. She was a graduate of the first class of the Winnebago high school and also a graduate of Parker College. She taught in public schools for several years.
September 3, 1896 Ella Humes was married to Milo Haight who survives her.
Mrs. Haight has been a faithful member of the Methodist church since childhood. She has always been very active in the churches activities, being president of the Ladies aid for 17 years. She has lived a fine Christian life in the home, the church and the community and all three will keenly feel their loss.
Since 1926 Mrs. Haight has served as president of the Riverside Cemetery Association.
Relatives who survive her are her husband, Milo Haight, one son Everett Haight of Winnebago and three grandchildren, Duane, Lorraine and Alice May Haight. There are three sisters, Mrs. Alice Baker and Enid, Oklahoma. Mrs. Edith Jaus of St. Paul, and Mrs. Gertrude H. Clark of Lake Crystal. A brother James P. Humes, preceded her in death by only five days. Her parents passed away several years ago.
