FT. DODGE– LuGene Noreen Broberg, 85, died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the Kansas Soldiers Home, Halsey Hall, Ft. Dodge.

She was born Jan. 18, 1921 at Lindsay, Nebraska, the youngest of 13 children of Louis George and Mary Galligan Winkler. On Oct. 31, 1942, she married Arthur Leroy Broberg at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He survives.

She attended Holy Family High School in Lindsay and attended Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska. She moved to Dodge City in 1966 from Lincoln, Nebraska and in 1998 moved to Ft. Dodge. She taught at rural schools in St. John and Cornlee, Nebraska. After moving to Dodge City, she was an insurance clerk for Humana Hospital until retiring in 1986.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City.

Other survivors include: two sons, John Broberg and wife, Suzie, Salina and David Broberg and wife Tonya, Wichita; three daughters, Susan Phipps and husband David, Ingalls, Peggy Johnson and husband Dick, Lincoln and Jean Broberg, Denver; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Broberg, three brothers and nine sisters and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Jane Malick.

Vigil Service will be 7 pm Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 903 Central Ave., Dodge City, with Fr. Ted A. Skalsky presiding.

Friends may sign the register from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Inturnment will be in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Kansas Soldiers Home, Sacred Heart School Endowment or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe all in care of Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
