Services for Flossie Mae Stuart, 87, Emory, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Emory Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Emory City Cemetery under direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home, Emory. Mrs. Stuart died July 21, 2006, in Mesquite. She was born July 7, 1919, in Miller Grove to the late George Henry and Almeta A. Brooks Wagley. She retired as tax assessor/collector for Rains County and was a member of Emory Baptist Church, past president of Emory Parent Teachers Association, secretary/treasurer of Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and secretary/treasurer for Emory/Forbis Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Joe Pete Stuart, on July 5, 1985; brother, Kenneth "Bill" Wagley; and half-brother, Clifford Carpenter. Survivors include daughters, Francis Ellen Howell, Farmersville, Jo Ann Turman, Plano, and Dixie Miranda Stuart, Mesquite; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Bill Beasley, Garland Messingill, Lawrence Terry, Leroy Potts, Wayne Melton, Demsey Bullock, Howard Walker and Jerry Teal. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
